E-Mail List Building is a common marketing practice these days. There are very few


businesses that you can go into these days that don't ask for your E-mail Address or ask if you want to sign up for special offers or updates through your Email. 

This is the first step you should take as well, when building your Email List. Start by asking your customers to fill out a short piece of paper containing their name and e-mail address. This will give you the opportunity to keep in some sort of contact and communication, with your customers.
E-mail List Building sounds easy, right? Well, it can be, if you go about it the right way. 
These days, with everyone asking for e-mail addresses and with the amount of spam on the Internet, it is getting harder and harder for you, to be able to get a persons e-mail address from them, for your E-Mail List Building database. 

So you'll have to find some way to encourage them. Are you an in-store individual requesting an e-mail address for building your e-mail list? Then try pointing out the


benefits, like newsletters, promotions or other benefits they might receive by having their e-mail address on your E-mail List. 
This is called Direct Contact Collection. You are collecting the e-mail address for the E-mail List directly from face-to-face customers. For those of us with Websites, adding a simple Form for e-mail collection is usually the best way to go about it. 
Simply write a short paragraph about why your customer should be giving their e-mail address to you, and then request the e-mail by putting in a Submission Form.


If you already have an E-mail List, try building a list with this option. Ask your customers for referrals. If they like your Site, and what you have to offer, request the e-mail address of friends and family, so you can send an invitation to those people to take a look at your Site. 
If not, depending on the Site, offer a Referral Program where customers can earn something for every so many people they get to sign up, and give you their e-mail addresses. 
A third option in the E-Mail List Building process is Telemarketing. In this process,


you build your E-mail List by contacting customers over the phone, and letting them know that they could perhaps avoid the call if they signed up for the E-mail Service.


Try to use as many of these as you can, when attempting to do E-Mail List Building. This will help you to create a large E-mail Address Base.

List building is the process of gathering e-mail addresses for the purpose of sending information, offers and other marketing information to clients and potential customers.


It might be tempting to gather all the e-mail addresses you have in your e-mail account, and place them on a list to receive your information. 
You might also think that purchasing an e-mail list from an online source might help you build your list. Be cautious, there is a much greater likelihood that you will be reported as a spammer,if the recipients don't know you, and isn't thrilled to receive an e-mail from you.

Building an organic list can take time, but you stand a better chance of actually connecting with a receptive audience.


You may find that list building is best achieved by providing Site visitors with information gathering forms. 
An Auto-responder can often manage the automated distribution of the information they seek. The customer information is gathered

and this can be used to invite them to participate in redeeming money saving offers from you.
Some forms include an already highlighted box that indicates the individual wishes to receive future e-offers. 
The outcome behind this is, many customers do not look at every field in the form and so may not uncheck the box when submitting their information.
